Academic Listening and Speaking IV is an advanced level (CEFR Level B2, IELTS 6.0) English for Academic Purposes module. The purpose of the module is the prepare international students for the listening and speaking components of advanced undergraduate and postgraduate study at university. It is a skills-based module which draws on authentic texts that are relevant and interesting. Students listen to live lectures as well as podcasts and vodcasts of pre-recorded lectures, debates and discussions, watch television documentaries and authentic presentations and debates from other students. Students also participate in debates, discussions, and give presentations on topics relevant to their field of study. The development of teamwork skills is emphasised throughout the module and there are plenty of opportunities to engage in further learning experiences out of the classroom.
