Academic Listening and Speaking at upper intermediate level (CEFR Level B1, IELTS 5.5) is designed for non-native speakers of English. The module trains students in active listening, listening for gist, listening for detail, questioning techniques, organisation and delivery of presentations and giving peer feedback. Authentic materials are used, and tolerating ambiguity, note-taking and summarising information are practised. Researching source material, comparing and evaluating sources and incorporating source material into oral reports are also included.
