Academic Writing at intermediate level (CEFR Level B1, IELTS 5.0) is designed for non-native speakers of English and aims to develop the students' ability to write argument and cause and effect essays at this level; there is also a report writing task in the final four weeks of the course. Practice will be given in the micro-skills necessary for these tasks: brainstorming, planning, text organisation, editing and drafting, and students learn to include research notes into written texts, as well as use their own research findings appropriately when writing the report. Detailed work on sentence structure and more formal academic English is integrated into the course content.
