Academic Listening and Speaking at pre-intermediate level (CEFR Level B1, IELTS 4.5) is designed for non-native speakers of English. The module contains intensive and extensive listening practice using DVDs/CDs as well as short lectures on academic topics with students encouraged to take basic notes. Confidence in speaking is developed using a number of techniques: information exchange, question and answer sessions, presentation practice, as well as working on pronunciation. Overall, the module aims to improve students' fluency and accuracy within the context of university studies and beyond.
