Academic Reading at pre-intermediate level (CEFR Level B1, IELTS 4.5) is designed for non-native speakers of English. The module covers intensive and extensive reading at pre-intermediate level and text organisation and analysis of a variety of genres: academic, narrative, journalistic. It covers the micro-skills: note-taking, summarising, anticipating main ideas from headings, skimming for main ideas, scanning for specific information and vocabulary building. The module also introduces students to logical thinking skills.
