This module will incorporate a thirty day skill development pathway which ensures that students are adequately prepared for starting their social work practice learning when they reach Stage II of the Social Work Programme. The Practice Placement Leads/Link Lecturers will deliver a double module of traditional and experiential learning, utilising the Faculty's Communications Skills room and drawing extensively from the Voices of Experience (Service User and Carer) Group and the partnership working arrangements with local stakeholders. This University based learning will be augmented by opportunities for students to shadow experienced social workers in the field, and participate in field-based workshops. The emphasis in this module will be the development of key skills which will be set in a framework of professional social work context, values, theoretical concepts, research findings and evidence based practice. The students will be introduced to the HCPC Standards of Proficiency for Social Work, the Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics and their Practice Education Handbook and Practice Assessment Document Handbook
