This final midwifery practice module enables students to consolidate their practice prior to qualification and to assume professional responsibility within a supportive environment. Lectures will explore current policy drivers and professional issues with an aim of preparing participants for employment. The politics and tensions within contemporary midwifery practice will be reassessed in the establishment of personal philosophies and women centred practice. Students will be required to manage a small caseload of women under indirect supervision from their mentors in order to prepare them for autonomous practice and enable them to take the lead in all aspects of midwifery practice.
