This module gives the opportunity to build on existing knowledge and professional experience and study in-depth, an aspect of health care pertinent to the students own area of practice. It will require a high level of application and skill in communication and critical analysis. The student will choose their own area of study and may carry out individual or group projects. This will involve negotiating an overall plan and method of assessment, accessing the relevant resources to complete the study and presenting information in a way that demonstrates your learning. An identified supervisor or supervisors who will be involved in agreeing the proposal will support them. Formal approval for the proposed study is obtained from the Field Committee and External Examiner before commencing work on the Independent Study module. Topics must be related to an aspect of nursing or midwifery.
