A module designed to introduce students to research and study methods which will underpin work carried out for their dissertations. The module, delivered in a seminar style, will teach students how to search for information from a variety of sources including the electronic databases. It addresses technical report writing, the reading and critical analysis of technical papers, presentation skills, the issue of plagiarism and correct referencing techniques. It discusses project planning and project management. The students practice these skills by carrying out a mini project and preparing a report.
