This module will build upon Year 1 and 2 modules by developing both theoretical knowledge of and applied practical skills in sports coaching. Throughout the module, students will be involved in theoretical and practical sessions to improve their knowledge (s) and experience of an increased variety of practical scenarios, in order to develop the critical and evaluative skills of the coach. In order to help students to continue to develop as reflective practitioners, the understanding of the dynamics of coaching practice will be developed. Delivery will be in the form of 12 weekly sessions (2 hours), combining theoretical and practical work. We shall combine group discussions, group presentations, individual presentations, both practical and theoretical sessions, and observation skills. Students will also be expected to undertake individual, (possibly paired) practice, study and observation of experienced coaches in action as well as engaging with innovative coaching methods.
