This module introduces the student to the work of the editor in contemporary publishing. Through lectures, workshops and presentations from industry speakers, students explore the strategic role of the editor within the publishing process and the knowledge and skills required for the development of new projects whether in print or digital form. It covers the editorial function in the company, editors and authors, and editorial project management. Workshops enable students to develop their knowledge of practical editorial skills, whilst the assessment requires them to work effectively as part of a small group.
