Browse Hierarchy PTE5004: Enquiring in the Humanities
This module introduces trainees to geographical, historical and social understanding and to religious education in the primary curriculum. It examines how children’s understanding of these disciplines might be developed through the curriculum requirements for geography, history and relevant aspects of citizenship, as well as the model syllabuses for Religious Education. A key element of the module is an extended project, incorporating a Humanities day or week, which provides trainees with the opportunity to investigate a cross-disciplinary Humanities’ theme and to explore ways in which to teach these subjects imaginatively and creatively. The module uses enquiry approaches, ICT applications, resources and skills in the organisation and presentation of assignments and considers particular applications such as the world wide web in the investigation of geographical, historical, social and religious learning.
