Browse Hierarchy PTE5001: Science and Technology in the Primary Curriculum
This Year Two module aims to apply the conceptual and skills based understanding in science that was established in Year One to a project based science and technology curriculum. Trainees will be encouraged to adopt a problem based approach in a variety of contexts where science and technology objectives can be combined and to enact scenarios that could be applied in the primary setting. The way in which discoveries in science and advances in technology interact in our rapidly changing world will be stressed and the projects considered will include global considerations. There will be an emphasis across the module on teamwork and dialogic interaction in the generation of questions and the skills associated with developing children’s scientific and technological procedural understanding. The trainees will be encouraged to consider the various pedagogical implications of progression, personalised learning and assessment. Critical evaluation and incorporation of ICT resources in the interest of learning and presentation of science and technology will be an essential component of the module
