This module will seek to determine the trainee’s initial confidence and attitudes towards science and to evaluate their own knowledge and understanding of science concepts and the process of scientific enquiry. Additionally, the importance of evidence-based practice will be highlighted together with the underlying research behind our ethos of thinking, talking and doing science. Accordingly, the sessions will be predominately practical whilst encouraging thinking and talking about the key concepts, skills and processes of primary science. The session content and directed independent study will aim to ensure that subject knowledge and understanding is secure to teach science at a primary level and to develop the pedagogy required to secure children’s progress.
