Academic Writing on the first year of the Two Year Master's Programme is designed for international postgraduate students. The course is designed to enable students to write a case study, argument essay and a report, to summarise and evaluate secondary sources effectively, and to apply their reading to a specific issue or question in an essay. Students will learn to employ correct citation techniques, and the methods for producing a coherent argument in an essay. The module is also designed to enable students to make use of the library research skills they are acquiring through the Reading and Research module, and to develop the microskills necessary for writing at this level: prewriting, planning, brainstorming, editing, text organisation and rewriting.
