This module is concerned with analysing the evidence that underpins midwifery practice. Such evidence will be drawn from midwifery and medical research, research from the biological and social sciences and theory derived from practice. It will enable students to develop the skills required to locate, challenge and evaluate evidence and for its transfer into clinical practice. The aim is to equip students with the knowledge and skills to provide women, babies and their families with care that is known to be both efficient and effective. It will also provide a basis on which to identify, develop and refine research questions relating to midwifery.
