This module enables candidates to develop an awareness of language, the learning of languages, and creative teaching in the language classroom. It also enables learners to develop an understanding of learning principles, and the impact this has on the roles of teachers and learners and on effective classroom teaching. The course also leads to familiarity with resources for teaching, learning and skills development, and a framework for evaluating these and applying them appropriately in specific teaching contexts. The module includes microteaching in peer groups, as well as workshops, seminars and individualised learning. The module can also be supported by experience in observing or engaging in support work in local context such as EAP classes for international students in Oxford Brookes International; ESL support in local primary schools through the charity Jacarri.
