Browse Hierarchy LANG6001: Subject to Discourse: Language & Literacies
This module explores discourse as system and as process. Here discourse is understood as combining multiple dimensions of meaning in which the modern text can be seen to have moved beyond the linguistic and the linear towards the multimodal and multirepresentational so as to produce different literacies, or ways of making meaning. This module retraces the paths of meaning construction from the linguistic to the multimodal by examining different perspectives on how discourse in the twenty-first century is produced, packaged and circulated, and how humans are made subject to it.
