This module seeks to provide an understanding of the benefits of 'cross-cultural competence' in the context of global people management. Through this understanding comes an enhanced appreciation of the organisational imperative to be successful globally, to be locally responsive, flexible and adaptable and of critical importance, capable of transferring knowledge and learning across globally dispersed units. To facilitate this appreciation, the programme will explore key theoretical debates within the IHRM arena; the impact of cultural differences and whether trends of convergence or divergence are observable. The programme will also focus on the key challenges in the practice of IHRM, such as recruitment and selection, reward management, performance management, and talent and knowledge management.
