This module builds upon some of the tools, techniques and knowledge gained in the PPD module at level 4 to enable students to identify and analyse the characteristics of labour supply and demand, and practices associated with managing culturally diverse workforces in the international hospitality and tourism industries. It will require students to critically evaluate contemporary people management approaches utilising a range of independently researched empirical information. This will include an analysis of relevant theoretical propositions as they apply to the nature of organisations and of work within a range of sectors of hospitality and tourism. Students will also be required to engage with current debates concerning the ethical management of diverse workforces.
