This module will examine the rise of the United States from the end of the Second World War, throughout the Cold War, to the present day. More broadly, the history of the United States will be explored within the framework of globalisation. By looking at domestic politics and policies, international relations and economic and military affairs, students will have a keener appreciation of the evolution of the American state in the 20th century, particularly the role and nature of the US presidency, as an actor at home and abroad.
