Mainstream cinema targets mass audience. However audiences are not homogeneous, so different kinds of specific appeal to basic emotions and cultural identities have to be introduced in film in order to reach those audiences; appeal to nationalism, to certain stereotypical images so that audiences see themselves reflected, and appeal to issues of desire. This module will focus this attempt to connect with different audience groups.
