The module team have devised this module to focus on your identity as a professional in educational settings. We ask you to look at where you stand in relation to a range of research approaches, methods and techniques. In particular we draw upon philosophy and history of education. The aim of this module is to enhance your awareness of the epistemological and methodological perspectives that inform social and educational research. Discussion of the main debates between the various traditions of enquiry will lead to a consideration of the arguments and assumptions which each makes about the social world. We aim to extend and build on learning from previous study and professional practice. The module provides an opportunity to examine and critique students' own professional identities
