The National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO) is a mandatory qualification for all Special Educational Needs Coordinators (SENCos). The NCTL has identified 49 Learning Outcomes that should be covered by the providers of the Award. The way in which Module 2 links to the 49 Outcomes are clearly indicated in the ‘Outline Syllabus’ section. Module 2 has a focus on ways to improve outcomes for children and young people with SEND. A range of high incidence areas of SEND are explored critically with an emphasis on quality first teaching, the whole school ethos and class teachers taking responsibility for children with SEND An emphasis is placed on the SENCO working strategically with senior colleagues and governors to promote a whole school culture of high expectations and best practice. This module is for students on the PG Certificate National Award for SEN Coordination. Students should contact the module leader if they are not on this award before adding the module to a programme.
