In this module students develop knowledge of differing social and cultural conceptions of childhood and the way in which these have changed over time and place. The module draws on sociological, historical and cross-cultural perspectives to examine both the impact of social context on childhood and the role of children as active agents in society. Students will apply their understanding of difference in the framework of childhood to their personal and professional experience.
