This module will further develop the analytical skills needed for the analysis of quantitative problems in economics, finance and business. The material will build on the basic quantitative techniques covered in the module `Interpreting Economic & Financial Data' while developing the methods by relating them to theories in economics and finance. On completion of the module students will have an understanding of the techniques of optimisation in the context of economics and business; an understanding of financial optimisation; an understanding of hypothesis testing and statistical inference; and an ability to conduct simple statistical analyses of data.
