This module uses simple economic models to introduce students to analytical methods of reasoning. Models will be developed using both diagrammatic and basic mathematical methods. The focus will be on rational behaviour and the theories of production, consumption and market exchange. Theory is useless unless it leads to applications - the module recognises this by weaving theory and applications together, to show how microeconomic analysis casts light upon intellectual and policy issues.
