This module explores methods for and modes of writing creatively in relation to voice, in a variety of conceptual, theoretical and practical aspects, in both poetry and prose. Topics such as the interplay of multiple voices (of author, narrator, and individual characters) in a text; how writers create distinctive voices and control and modulate tone and register; and notions of identify, authenticity, social construction, style and aesthetics will be included. Seminars and workshops will require the active participation of students, with the tutor as leader and facilitator.
