The dissertation involves students in a piece of investigative or literature-based research and comprises approximately one third of the work for the degree. Preparation for the dissertation will normally begin with proposal preparation in the first semester of the second year and the second semester and summer will be given over entirely to dissertation-based work. This work will build on the taught elements of the programme and is supported by six methodology workshops, a buddy system and academic supervision.
