An exploration of the application of techniques of molecular biology and genetics to the diagnosis and treatment of human disease. These disciplines are at the leading edge of advances in diagnosis and therapy and we will examine their role in causation and treatment of conditions such as cystic fibrosis, neurodegenerative diseases, behavioural disorders, and other genetic disorders. There is an emphasis on tutor-directed independent study.
