This module offers students the opportunity to learn a range of philosophies of research methods for architectural design. The qualitative and quantitative methods as used in architecture and other disciplines will be presented via a series of lectures by experts in each respective field. The module endeavours to present to students a variety of research philosophies from which they can develop their own personal approach to architectural design as a research practice. The module will aim to offer responses to the questions; 'What is architectural design research?' and 'What are the disciplinary and trans-disciplinary philosophies related to research methods which can be applied to enhance the production of architectural design?'
