This module is intended to explore the physical, social, political and cultural context within which architecture and interior architecture is produced and to introduce students to areas of investigation. Additionally, the module aims to introduce students to investigative methods that might be developed / utilized in their third year dissertations. Group assignments and workshops aim to help students develop key research and presentation skills and individual course work provides an opportunity for independent study and the application of writing skills. This module, together with the second semester module 'Issues in Architectural History and Theory' (U30025), are designed to introduce students to the third year dissertation tutors and their respective specialist areas of research.
