Students on the MSc programmes are expected to undertake effective research drawing upon a range of primary and/or secondary data sources in the preparation of coursework. Research skills are therefore of general relevance to all MSc modules. The module emphasises the links between research, analysis and practice. It aims to expose students to a range of generic methodological issues, techniques and study skills required for the completion of high quality, rigorous and systematic management research required for independent research. It allows students to apply their learning from the taught modules of the MSc Finance, in combination with their learning on research methods, firstly to a directed literature review on a contemporary issue in finance, and then either to a dissertation of thier choice, or to a guided finance synoptic encompassing a substantial literature review and applied case study based on typical multifaced problems faced by finance professionals.
